Rory Wilson, RIBA Chartered Architect - Director, Catalina Architecture Ltd

Experience:
Following professional qualification Rory spent five years with a Derby-based practice as a member of the Education Team, including as Project Architect on a new primary school.
2003 - Joined Lionel Curtis RIBA in 2003 in forming LCRW Architects (Aberystwyth). The partnership’s projects included new-build, conversion and conservation, with projects in private, education, commercial and community sectors.
2010 – With the retirement of Lionel Curtis, Rory joined the LCRW’s senior technologist in forming Catalina Architecture Ltd (Aberystwyth).
Based at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, projects range from a £20K domestic extension to the £5.5M conservation and conversion of a grade 1 listed country house.
Rory has recently completed a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Conservation of the Historic Environment (College of Estate Management, Reading), and is a member of The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) and
Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).
Specific fields of interest include contemporary innovative design and historic building conservation.

Kathy Hosker - Architectural Technician, Catalina Architecture Ltd

Trained with M.Boyer Architects (Lucerne, Switzerland), qualifying in 1986, Kathy moved to West Wales in 1988 working with a local architectural practice as well as starting her own business (camp-site and livery stable).

Kathy has recently completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies (Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth), as well as upgrade courses in AutoCAD.

Janet Sanders - Director, Reegen Ltd

Established in 2006, and based in Aberystwyth, the company works with clients from initial concept stages through to final post-construction certification.

Janet established the National Assembly Sustainable Energy Group, a cross-party working group in collaboration with the renewable energy industry. She has presented to professional audiences at international sustainable development conferences including the World Sustainable Energy Days in Austria and TERI Renewable Energy conferences in Delhi. Janet was invited to become a member of HRH The Prince of Wales Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change.

Her previous work with the international European network OPET (Organisation for the Promotion of Energy Technologies) included the development and management of several EU projects and programmes delivering expertise and technology transfer across Europe and India. She was the UK participant of the OPET Central Unit, with responsibility for strategy and direction and future funding of the OPET network.


Lionel S Curtis, RIBA Chartered Architect - Consultant to Catalina Architecture Ltd

Qualifications:

• RIBA - Chartered Architect , The Polytechnic, Regent Street, London
• MCInstArb - Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

Experience: Extending over 50years Lionel joined his father's practice in Marylebone in the 1950's since when he has covered a broad area of building design in Local & Central Government, University and Private Practice. Commercial, Housing, Educational & Agricultural Building Research in both Wales and England. Particular areas of interest include Special Needs Provision & Designing for the Disabled. External Examiner at Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff.


Catalina Architecture Ltd work closely with other professionals in forming Design Teams tailored to each project's needs, including structural and services engineer, CDM Coordinator, and ecologist. We have inhouse BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes capability through our business partner Reegen Ltd (Director - Janet Sanders~ licensed and accredited BREEAM & Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor).
