What we do
Catalina Architecture + Design take projects from first concept through to Practical Completion, including the negotiating and securing of all required permissions (Planning Permission, Listed Building Consent, Building Regulations etc).
We offer Contract Administration, as well as being well-positioned to take the role of Principal Designer for Construction Design & Management (CDM) purposes.
For smaller projects we are equipped to carry out linear and levels surveys, and have good working relationships with land surveyors for larger projects, including full 3D building scanning where required.
We have an in-house furniture designer, providing bespoke design solutions for kitchens, bathrooms and furniture.
Where sub-consultants are required we have close working relationships with structural engineers, ecologists, quantity surveyors, and others.
We can advise you on suitable contractors and subcontractors, when the time comes to get your project on site.
Doing things in the right order not only leads to the best finished scheme, but can also save money and time. Below is a guide to the process we follow, setting out the key Work Stages, and what should be done when. This programme follows the RIBA Plan of Work.
Work Stage 1 - Preparation + Brief
Work Stage 2 - Concept Design
Work Stage 3 - Developed Design
Work Stage 4 - Technical Design
Work Stage 5 - Construction
Work Stages 6 + 7 - Handover + Close out + In Use
Fees can be calculated as a fixed fee per Work Stage based on an hourly rate, as a percentage of the overall build cost, or on a running hourly basis.
